JV2 = Junior Varsity?

2007

No, no… it’s stands for Johnson Valley!

New Pictures Up!!

The dusty moonscape of Johnson Valley was probably the most challenging RallyX we’ve been to in our careers. Okay, okay, we’re new at this, but we need to sound good to keep the wives off our collective back.  The Devil’s of the Dust gave our group (R2) a bit of a break, while they unleashed their full furry on the poor 4xr’s.  The powdered surface truely gave one the feeling of bounding across a lunar surface! Let’s just say we spent a lot of time sliding sideways over the finish line.

Jason did a great job laying out the track with a flying finish that challenged many a driver’s ability to maintain control through the gates.  Thanks in part to a total lack of control, we managed to slide into some good times.  Both of us lost it coming into the 90-degree finish repeatedly, but neither of us hit any cones…well, at least not in the FF :) .  Others were not as fortunate and, at one point, I think I heard the CRUNCH of Jonathan’s Nissan reluctantly jumping into reverse so he could “get” through the finish. Showoff…

We had a bunch of family join us for this event and, while it was great fun, ‘we’ (read as ‘they’), decided it was probably a little too dusty, a little too hot, and WAY to remote for a “day” trip.

The power steering gremlins gave us nothing but grief, stealing our bewitched belt on the first or second lap out of 5 >< .  On a positive note, we finally took the time to properly apply force to the belt and we’re thinking we may have finally beaten the damn thing into sub…err worked out the bugs.

The day was longer than we had originally planned, but in the end it was all worth it. Kevin took 3rd in R2 and Jake held a tight set, despite losing track visibility completely at one point.

Cones around the world shall soon feel our wrath!!
